A spacious North Cyrus luxury four bedroom holiday villa located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in Upper Kyrenia . Villa Bexame is one of a few exceptional North Cyprus holiday villas available for holiday rental. It is set in a spectacular location with breathtaking sea views to the front and rear terrace views over the pool, mountains and St Hilarion Castle. For your comfort the villa has air conditioning to all bedrooms and lounge and full gas central heating (November to April evenings can be quite cool). Only 5 minutes drive to shops and the harbour.

Kyrenia is epitomised by its Venetian horseshoe harbour, castle bars, cafes and shops.

Just a few minutes drive away, lies the enchanting village of Bellapais. Dominated by its world famous thirteenth century abbey, this tiny village set high in the hills overlooking Kyrenia, was immortalised by Lawrence Durell in his classic “Bitter Lemons of Cyprus��? and has hardly changed since his time. You can still sit under the enchanting ‘Tree of idleness’ and watch the afternoon gently slip away or, energy permitting, explore the ruins of the Bellapais Abbey and take in the superb views.

Nearby, clinging precariously to rocky outcrop, is the ‘fairytale’ castle of St Hilarion. Built during the Crusades, those intrepid enough to brave the long walk to the castle battlements will be rewarded with stunning views of the whole of the northern coastline.

As the sun sets, the harbour again becomes the focus of activity as the locals take their evening stroll and cafes and bistros that face the sea prepare for nightly trade. Crisp white linen and small vases of local flowers are lovingly arranged on table tops to welcome the evening’s guests to wine and dine in the cooling breeze.

A 5 minute drive east or west will take you to one north cyprus 's many sandy beaches.

In Kyrenia centre look out for Passport opposite Ezcic chicken. The meals are astonishing value with a varied family menu. £1-3 per head

The Brasserie is set in the former summer residence of Arch Bishop Makarios. The wood panelled bar and dining rooms are elegant. It’s a place to dress up for. Cyprus is all about views and you’ll get a great one here if you manage to book a table on the stone arched terrace. Superb steaks cost around £9. [Tel 8159481].

The horseshoe harbour has a smashing array of restaurants bars and shops. At Niazis [Tel 8152160 ] around from the harbour opposite the Dome Hotel you can gorge yourself on an overwhelming selection of kebabs and Meze cooked on an open fire grill in the middle of the restaurant for less than £10 each.

A family of 4 can have three or four races each, including snacks for less than £50. Children must be over 8 and have their own race circuit. Adults get super fast twin engined Karts. All of the laps are computer timed, and after completing the race printouts are handed out with with everyone's lap times and fastest speed.

Check with them before you go that there is not a local race meeting on.

From picking you up to dropping you off takes about two hours and Highline Airtours paragliding have plenty of room for any spectators. The flight lasts half an hour and costs £50. A truly wonderful experience.

Beaches

Beaches are a principal attraction in North Cyprus, and vary widely in character from the busy hotel beaches, which offer many facilities, to the secluded stretches of sand in the Karpaz, where the visitor may have an entire beach to himself. Do not forget to use sun-screen lotion - after 20 minutes under the summer sun, you will begin to burn. northern cyprus holiday villas

Water sports are available on some beaches, in particular at Deniz Kizi, some 5 miles west of Kyrenia, where Dolphin Sailing, which is recognized by the Royal Yacht Club, offers a wide range of water sports with professional tuition and supervision. In general, the beaches associated with hotels provide facilities such as toilets, deck chairs, parasols, bars and restaurants. Entrance fees vary. The visitor is encouraged to explore for himself, but as a guide, a few beaches are listed below.

Acapulco Beach lies about 6 miles to the east of Kyrenia. At the point where the coast road to the east sweeps up towards the mountains, a large sign advertising this beach will be seen. Here the road branches off to the left, passing through an army camp before leading to the entrance of this holiday complex. This is a popular tourist beach, offering most facilities, but supervision of children swimming is recommended as there is an undertow. Windsurfing is available. Lara Beach may be found a couple of miles further on - a sign indicates where to turn off from the new by-pass road. Toilets, showers, and beach chairs are available, and there is also a reasonable open air restaurant.

Alakadi Beach is still further east, about 10 miles from Kyrenia. A hundred yards or so past St. Kathleen`s restaurant is a small bridge. Immediately after the bridge, a rough track bears left, leading past a farm and through the dunes to a large, sweeping double bay. There are no facilities, so bring your own refreshments, including water, and avoid leaving litter.

Sunset Beach is located about 5 miles to the west of Kyrenia, past the sloping concrete monument beyond KaraoglanogIu. It is adjacent to the Altinkaya fish restaurant. The sandy beach is well protected and ideal for tiny tots. Toilets and showers are available, and there is a bar and restaurant.

Deniz Kizi is situated about seven miles west of Kyrenia. This sheltered bay is kept clean, and offers a variety of water sports (see Dolphin Sailing above) including windsurfing, parascending, water skiing, and inflatable fun rafts for smaller children. Deck chairs are available for hire, and there are also toilet and shower facilities.

Mare Monte hotel beach lies some 10 miles west of Kyrenia, and provides all the facilities the visitor requires. An excellent location, but the entrance fee is higher than elsewhere.
