Property Details of Scotland Cottage
A traditional Crofter's Cottage which has been renovated to a high standard in 2006 preserving many original features.Central Heating System installed in 2006.
Càrn Bàn the name of our property relates to the land behind the house and means rocky crags in Gaelic.
Càrn Bàn stands on the edge of the village of Staffin and is truly a delightful place to relax, with probably the best views on the Island there is no better place to unwind. You can walk for miles in the beautiful countryside, or drive 15 minutes to Portree or the port of Uig and take the ferry to the Outer Isles.
The house sleeps 8 and comprises of 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, family room, lounge, large kitchen and dining room. All beds will be made up with fresh linen on your arrival and plenty of towels provided.
Tuck yourselves away for a traditional family holiday and enjoy quality time together. Family games are provided for those rainy days when you just want to stay in, in front of a roaring fire.

Large kitchen/diner - (+ cappuccino/espresso machine!) Wood is provided for the 2 open fires.
Careful thought has been given to the renovation of Càrn Bàn, retaining all the charm and character of the house while providing modern facilities and equipment of quality.

Local Area DetailsOne of the largest and best known Scottish islands, Skye is particularly famous for its mountain scenery. Many people come here to climb or walk in the Cuillin and the Quiraing, which Càrn Bàn looks directly on to. Quite an expanding population since the early 1990s, now there are over 9000 people living on the island.
Due to its popularity with tourists, you will find many craft shops and cottage museums.
As for sports, you can visit the swimming pool in Portree, play golf at Sconser and Skeabost or go pony trekking. Water sports available on the island include diving, canoeing, windsurfing and yachting. Skye is also the ideal place for fishing and bird watching.
But if it's whisky you want, why not visit the Talisker Distillery at Carbost?
Out and About.
With amazing views of the Quaraing Mountains you are superbly based to enjoy excellent walking, safe bathing, sea and loch fishing, bird watching, (Golden Eagles, Buzzards and Sea Eagles) and everything else this beautiful island has to offer.
There is lots to do in Staffin - the walks especially are breath taking. The Columba 1400 Centre at the end of the road has a restaurant and pool table. The Flodigarry Hotel has an excellent restaurant and bar, and operates a mini-bus to take you home on a Friday and Saturday night.
Walks and Climbs.
For lovers of the outdoors, the Staffin area hosts some unique attractions, with fantastic walks straight out from the house. Hillwalkers will love the Quiraing opposite, a crazy and awesome area of mountain landslip, home to the natural marvels of the Prison, the Needle and the Table. These photogenic formations are easily accessible from Càrn Bàn. In addition, one of Britain's most striking ridgewalks runs southward from the Quiraing to Portree along the Trotternish Ridge, an all-day expedition giving all-round panoramas across the Western Isles.
Rock-climbers across Britain know the nearby sea-cliffs are home to some spectacular excursions. Kilt Rock hosts the acclaimed climbs 'Grey Panther' and 'Internationale', featured in the Extreme Rock collection, and across Staffin bay at Flodigarry is the spectacular natural pillar climbed by 'Spantastic'.

1 Dog = £40.00 per week
2 Dogs = £60.00 per week
A 25% non refundable deposit is required per week, when booking, with the balance due 8 weeks prior to the holiday date.
Should the balance of the holiday not be paid by the due date the booking will be considered cancelled.
In the event of cancellation any payments made will be refunded if the cottage is re-let, subject to an administration/cancellation fee of £100.
Premises are available from 4 pm Saturday and will be vacated by 10 am on the day of departure.
Dogs must be restricted to the tiled area of the ground floor of the house at all times.
One basket of logs is provided and extra logs may be purchased locally.
The holidaymaker undertakes to leave the property and its contents in the same condition as at the commencement of the holiday and to leave the property in the same state of cleanliness in which it was found. You will be charged accordingly for any extra cleaning which is necessary.
The owner of the property will be compensated for any damage and breakages which occur. |
