Very comfortable house in a scenic quiet village 300ft up on St Baethlomew's mountain. The house has views accrross the Pyrenees into Spain and is on the route of the tour de france. This location is in midst of Cathar history with a number of medieaval castle ruins and prehistoric caves with paintings and amazing stalgtites. Located 45 mins from Andorra and 20 minutes formt he nearest main ski centre in Ax-les-Thermes there is plenty to do in the region. In the village is an 13th century Roman church and five minutes walk away is a 13th century ruins of a Cathar chatueax which now hosts big birds of prey displays during the summer months. There are plenty of walks straight from the house, you will notice an amazing range of wildflowers and butterflys not to mention the occasional cry of an eagle or even one perched on a branch nearby and early mornings there are deer and wild boar. You can get to a number of places of inetrest from here; Carcasonne and Toulouse are 1hr
30 mins, Foix with it's shops and restaurants is onlyhalf an hour, Mirepoixe with it's typical medieaval black and white buildings and lovely markets is 45 mins, closer to home is Ax-les-Thermes, known for it's hot springs where you can dip your feet into the warm sulpherous waters in the town centre, is only 20 minutes as is Tarascon which also has some nice shps and restautrants.

Local Area Details

From May to September the region is at itsmost active with fete de la village where most ofthe villages have their own summer party usually a meal followed by entertainment which goes on to the early hours a great way to meet locals There is pony trekking and water rafting as well as an underground boat ride that takes you through the subterranean caves There are three parks prehistoric park and museum bear park and wolf park too
