The Casentino valley is only 40 mins from Florence which is served by a regular bus service or Arrezzo which is serviced by a local train service from where you can travel onto Venice and Sienna or Rome respectively if you wish to venture further a field but there are plenty of local attractions to keep you nearer home Poppi has a most impressive castle whilst a little further away is La Della Verna monastry For those looking for a little more relaxation Poppi has a magnificent 9 hole golf course which is being extended to 18 holes For soaking up the sun and cooling off the river Arno flows through the village or there is a more formal small water park within easy distance which also houses a bowling alley and other attractions For dining there is a whole host of restaurants enabling the guests to eat somewhere different every night if they so wish or the village shops stock adequate supplies to enable you to enjoy dining at home
