The village of Fayence is one of 7 hill villages in the area From the bell tower at the top of the village there is an incredible panoramic view of over 180 degrees with a ceramic orientation table Fayence was a medieval fortified town and in spite of its size and the facilities it offers it is still unspoilt with a maze of narrow paved streets out of the reach of the internal combustion engine It is a centre for tourists and the very active Comite des fetes sees to it that there is plenty going on concerts shows dances etc throughout the year but especially in the summer season There are open markets 3 times a week as well as plenty of shops restaurants and bars In the area generally there is lots to see and do The other hill villages including our nearest one St Paul en Foret all have their own events and activities which sometimes makes it difficult to decide where to go There are dramatic gorges and rivers close by and if you want to go further afield Europes largest canyon is just 2 hours away and Italy takes only just over an hour In the Pays de Fayence alone there are many restaurants to try markets to visit and cafs to sit in and watch the world go by Nearby we have the large Lac St Cassien 15 minutes with all kinds of water sports including canoe and pedalo hire There are two riding stables both a five minute walk away one of them being a dressage school and the other doing lessons and trecks There is a new highly prestigious golf course the Four Seasons Terre Blanche Resort 10 minutes away and another course about 20minutes away on the road to Le Muy Gliding is at the bottom of Fayence about 8 minutes away and you can be taken up for a trial run if the fancy takes you Coastal beaches are half an hour away at La Napoule Cannes and St Raphael
