The vineyards of the property "Bricco del Generale" produce an excellent wine, Barbera DOC, which, thanks to its quality, has alreay been awarded the prize Douja d'Or, an important prize which is conferred on the best Italian wines every year. Although we produce a little amount of this wine, it boasts a number of estimators to which we are proud to offer a genuine and natural product.

Local Area Details

The Palio of Asti horse race is one of the most important events in Piedmont and the oldest Palio in Italy, even though it is considered only the second in importance and fame. From the XII century, it has taken place on the second Sunday of September in the central square of Asti (Piazza Alfieri); 21 horses ridden bareback by 21 jockeys which represent 14 quarters of the town and 7 villages of the province.
The Assedio of Canelli ( Siege of Canelli) takes place on the second Sunday of June and recalls a well-known historical event which occurred during the wars of succession for the Dukedom of Monferrato (1613-1617). .
The "Douja d'Or" Prize is a National Oenological Competition for DOC and DOCG wines; it takes place in September and it is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Asti with the technical support of ONAV-Organizzazione Nazionale Assaggiatori di Vino (Wine Tasters National Organisation). Even the wine produced in the property "Bricco del Generale" has taken part in this important oenological competition and it has been awarded the prize Douja d'Or.
During the Sagre Contadine (Country Fair), which takes place in Piazza del Palio (Palio square), about 40 villages offer you their food specialties together with some of the best Asti wines. Don't miss the colourful procession that winds its way through the city, with more than 3000 characters with authentic period costumes, farm tractors and farming tools, which represent the values and traditions of this beautiful land.
