The Palladian villa was built in the second half of the 16th century by the Marcello family, one of the most powerful and noble families of Venice. The ‘Italian’ style garden in front of the beautiful façade has a fountain, Greek mythical statues and flower beds. The park (70.000 m2) is fully fenced and rich in wonderful plants and framed by long rows of trees, which meet in front of a lovely dove cote, a chapel and a large fish pond. The villa can be visited accompanied by the owner, Count Vettor Marcello.
Inside the left arcaded wing of the villa there is the independent ‘Barchessa’ apartment, even in the past reserved to welcoming guests. The apartment has 4 bedrooms (8-10 sleeps) and 3 bathrooms. Furniture and objects belonging to the family since 16th century such as paintings, objects of art and new matching furnishing which create a warm and welcoming ambience. The walls have original marble plaster surface and most rooms have parquet floor and plaster decorated ceilings, while the bathrooms are furnished with hand painted ‘Vietri’ tiles and high standard bath furniture.
Close to the main building, in a small garden separated from the main park, there is a swimming pool surrounded by oleanders, roses and hydrangeas. The garden is complimented by a patio, a table, chairs, deck-chairs and a barbeque/grill. A dressing room with pool towels, extra chairs and small refrigerator is accessible from the private garden.
