Fraysse Haut is a secluded farmstead set in 6 hectares of meadow and woodland in the pleasant rolling countryside above the Lot river valley. Sheila and Dan, the owners, live alongside in the main house and are here to welcome you and ensure you make the most of your stay in this beautiful region.

The independent gîte is a comfortable, bright barn conversion featuring a spacious living area overlooked by a gallery, and a new fitted kitchen. Under floor heating and a wood burning fire ensure comfort in all seasons. The buildings surround a courtyard opening onto fields. There is a small garden area with a barbecue and choice of seating areas in sunshine or shade. The Barn sleeps 2 to 4, with a double bed and twin singles. It is very comfortable for couples. There is another bedroom in the Tower alongside, meaning up to 6 people can be accommodated.

Local Area Details

The bastide village of Montcabrier is about 5km away by road, less by woodland path. Shops, supermarkets and weekly produce markets are at Puy l'Evêque (5km) and Prayssac (8km). Cahors is the nearest main town with the Pont Valentré and old quarters. Puy l'Evêque is the third most visited site in the Lot, after Rocamadour and Saint-Cirq Lapopie. Visit the imposing chateaux of Biron and Bonaguil, or explore the bastide towns of Monflanquin and Monpazier, with their arcaded squares; don't miss Les Arques ("From here you cant see Paris") and the Zadkine museum.

In July and August several villages organise evening markets with regional specialities to eat in lively ambience at communal tables. Discover the wine of Cahors with wine tasting at a friendly vineyard - wonderful wine at affordable prices. Toulouse is the nearest main airport but Bergerac, at only 80 km, is served by Ryanair and other low cost airlines.

Several marked hiking trails, including the GR652 and the Montcabrier circuit, pass nearby; maps and walking ideas are available. The Lot has varied countryside with charming villages and many hidden treasures (such as frescoed churches, dolmens, natural springs and old washing stones) to discover on walking circuits as well as some fine views over the Lot river valley.
