Montignac is a small hamlet just 4km (2.5 miles) to the north of the wonderful market town of Montpon Menesterol. Leaving Montpon behind, the road crosses the River L’Isle, then rises up out of the shallow valley and narrows through the rural community of Montignac, passing the fields and livestock of local farms before revealing the wide open spaces that surround ‘Les Vergers.’

As Montpon is just ten minutes down the lane, all the expected facilities of a small town are available almost upon your doorstep, but just far enough away to not detract from the peace and tranquility of the countryside. And talking of countryside, it would be a very lucky person who has discovered anything better than this corner of France. With large forests and rolling meadows, steep cliff faces, with castles atop, rising from the valleys of powerful rivers, the Dordogne region is certainly one of the most beautiful places on earth, but still very much untouched by the hectic pace of modern life. You know you deserve the rest, so come and do it properly!

The double bedroom with en-suite wash basin is ideal for those that are unable use the stairs.

Upstairs: From the living room, the wooden stairs lead you to two more double sized rooms (both with twin beds)and a bathroom. Through the kitchen and up the stairs is a further double bedroom with lovely views over the pool and garden.

Outside: The beautiful well manicured garden offers a secluded hedged sitting area, a purpose build BBQ area, a fully fenced in pool area (ideal for those with children) and a orchard with apple, pear and cherry trees plus plenty of lawned area for running around.

Local Area Details

The market town of Montpon, some 5 minutes drive has a range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and has a weekly market where you can buy almost anything, but in particular the local wine producers sell their produce. The world famous wine centre of St. Emillion which is based around the charming medieval village with its origins dating back to the 8th Century is well worth a visit. The old quarter of Bordeaux is one of the largest protected architectural neighborhoods in all of France and is within easy reach of the cottage. Bergerac offers the visitor a host of speciality shops along its myriad of tiny streets. Or you can chose to find some of the local restaurants that serve some of the most amazing food at very reasonable prices, then come back to the house and relax.
