25km from ‘La Cite’ at Carcassonne and the Canal du Midi both UNESCO sites, relax in a beautiful renovated stone village house, the foundations of the house date back to a 15th Century châteaux, now fully modernised but retaining charm and character with huge beams and vast old stone walls, in a valley in the heart of a quite picturesque mountain village.
We offer a warm welcome and a quite haven in which to relax and unwind, with evening meals of international, traditional and regional French cuisine. We have a large entrance hall and a spacious and comfortable lounge dinning room with an enormous fireplace and wood burning stove, TV and music centre, with a door onto a south facing balcony where you could dine, it has open views looking over our large garden, the village green and the river ‘Dure’ and wooded hillside.
On the first floor there is a well stocked reading library, leaflets and regional maps & children’s books and games + a fridge stocked with soft drink, beers & wines, where you can also store your picnic food. There is air conditioning and central heating & all our rooms have tea & coffee facilities.
We are non-smoking but do accept small pets by arrangement.

Chez Providence Chambres et Table d'Hote in Cuxac-Cabardes is situated less then half an hour from both the world famous Medieval 'Cite' of Carcassonne and Mazamet, in the foothills of the Black Mountains (Montagne Noire) in the Pays Cathare in the department of Aude in Languedoc.
This unspoilt largely undiscovered laid back corner of southern France will inspire you; it is famous for its diverse landscape. 'Nature at its best'. It has a rich culture of romance with its Cather chateaux and the canal du Midi, and its legendary gastronomic pleasures. It stretches from the Rhone to the Pyrenees it is one of Europe’s oldest provinces and one of its most fertile regions, the area is well named it is at the southern most end of the Massif Central running east to west its sharp northern face is covered by craggy rock faced mountains which rise to 500 metres and with its stunning diverse landscape of deep gorges, ancient woods, pine and spruce forests, valleys and plains its vineyards.
If you are interested in Botany the garrigue (wild scrublands), you will be intrigued with its range of wild flowers and hundreds of orchids and other rare plants, which also line the many mountain roads in spring, as will the birds life (buzzards, kites, kestrels, eagles), over 250 different bird species, in this region of the Montagne Noire. A different view awaits you around ever corner, this region is truly stunning. Enjoy bustling food or bric-a-brac markets go boutique shopping or visit medieval towns and villages with there ancient churches and nearby Cather castles and museums. Play golf (4 courses with ½ hours drive) or go horse riding, hike, swim in one of several beautiful mountain lakes or taste wine at vineyards visit the Grotte de Limousis with its underground lake and rare aragonite chandelier. Take part in the numerous local summer festivals celebrating tradition and folklore. The harvests are also celebrated with fairs selling cherries in May, melons in June, onions in September apples in October and foie gras and truffles in December & January.
