Welcome to Les Châtaignes, our beautiful, three-bedroomed stone-built longère (cottage), in the Morbihan department of Brittany. Ideally situated to enjoy all that Brittany has to offer. The accommodation, which has been newly and sympathetically renovated, comprises: Three spacious bedrooms - 1 with king size bed, 1 with double bed and 1 with 2 single beds. All bed linen is provided, and a travel cot is available if required. Bathroom with sink, bath, shower and wc. Downstairs there is a very large living room with feature wood burning stove - lovely and cosy for out of season breaks. Three piece suite and TV/DVD/CD player. An assortment of games, books and DVDs is available for your entertainment. Fully equipped, fitted kitchen, with utility room off, and a wc off the utility room. Outside, the large garden provides plenty of seating, table and chairs and barbecue. Chestnut and apple trees at the rear of the cottage provide cooling shelter in the heat of the day. What better way to relax in the evening than with a glass or two of lovely french wine whilst preparing your barbecue meal? The garden is next to a small wood, and is very tranquil. Children love to watch the red squirrls scampering up and down the trees. Gravelled parking is provided at the top of the driveway. The cottage is situated on a quiet lane, and at the end of a long driveway, so is perfect for children. Close by is the town of Merdrignac, which has lovely restaurants and creperies, patisseries and supermarkets as well as an assortment of other shops and boutiques. There is an outdoor pool with slide, and tennis courts, golf, and a lake in ornamental gardens - lovely to stroll around on a warm summer evening. A little further is the Foret (forest) de Hardinais, which has a large lake and sandy shore. Well worth a visit is the ancient town of Josselin, nominated a 'Petite Cité de Caractère' , with its imposing chateau overlooking the banks of the river Oust, and half-timbered houses lining the narrow streets. The weekly street market is not to be missed! The medieval town of Vannes, or Carnac with its megalithic standing stones are typical of Brittany. For a lovely day out try the Lac de Guerledan, which has excellent water sports, canoing and water skiing. Or for the less energetic, try fishing or relaxing on the sandy beach whilst watching the pedalos bob on the lake. Brittany is an area of great charm and character. The Breton people are warm and friendly, and will welcome you at their many festivals. The Breton language is spoken in many areas, alongside french.
